Employment Advice and Counselling

Mr. Stander prides himself on being a “next generation” lawyer, by being a go-to advisor and taking the time to get to know his clients’ businesses and the employment law and HR issues they face.  Mr. Stander listens to the needs and goals of his clients and translates that into straightforward advice without unnecessary legal jargon to provide the best practical and responsive solutions for business owners and HR teams.

Contentious and Non-Contentious Employment Matters

Mr. Stander’s practice is primarily focused on dealing with contentious and non-contentious matters for employers. To that end, Mr. Stander is particularly active in matters relating to business protection, and regularly drafts and revises restrictive covenant, confidentiality and trade secret agreements to ensure maximum enforceability.  

Mr. Stander also has extensive experience in the following areas: day-to-day UK and international employment and multi-jurisdictional HR issues including  advising on contractor and IR35 issues relating to the gig economy, senior level exits, unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, data protection and the employment aspects of sensitive workplace investigations, and advising on, preparing and negotiating settlement agreements. 

Cross-Industry and International Experience

Mr. Stander provides counsel to UK and US-headquartered companies across various sectors including retail, tech and manufacturing, often with an international element. Mr. Stander is regularly called upon to advise on in-bound work for international clients on their UK employment law needs.

Mr. Stander is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
