London Employment Associate Daniel Stander authored an article in People Management on monitoring employees in the workplace, discussing what steps businesses can take to ensure staff surveillance is legal.

Stander reminds employers to “know their limits,” and reviews a recent case in which a Dutch court found in favour of a telemarketer, who was dismissed on the grounds of insubordination for allegedly refusing to keep his webcam on for nine hours per day. He then provides a breakdown of the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) recently launched consultation on its monitoring at work draft guidance.
