Governor Newsom approved many new employment laws taking effect in 2025, and also new PAGA laws effective already! These laws, together with recent court decisions, impose new compliance challenges on employers in California.
What is changing in 2025?
This webinar will provide an overview of many notable new laws applicable to employers. Some of the significant new laws we plan to cover include:
- AB 2288 & SB 92, Private Attorneys General Act (“PAGA”) reform and new PAGA penalty requirements
- SB 399, Bans mandatory “captive audience” workplace meetings on religion, politics or union organizing
- AB 1815, Expands definition of race for discrimination claims, including traits associated with race
- SB 1137, Allows discrimination claims to be based on a combination of two or more protected characteristics
- AB 2499, Expands eligibility and protections for employees to take leave regarding victims of crimes
- AB 2123, Amends Paid Family Leave by allowing immediate benefits without prior use of two weeks’ vacation
- AB 2299, Requires posting and notice of employee’s rights under the state’s whistleblower laws
