Vedder Price Names Anirudh Koka and Gregory Miller 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Scholars
Vedder Price is pleased to announce that Anirudh Koka and Gregory Miller, first-year law students at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Howard University School of Law, respectively, have been named as recipients of the 2023 1L Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships in Chicago.
This marks the 19th year Vedder Price has offered the scholarships, which provide both a monetary award and placement in the firm’s Summer Associate Program.
Koka will work with all practice areas at the firm. Koka earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and was awarded the Fulbright UK Summer Institute scholarship and the Killam Fellowship to study abroad at SOAS, University of London and Carleton University in Canada. Prior to attending the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, he received his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University where he graduated with highest distinction. He also worked as a Program Analyst for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration at the U.S. Department of State, where he helped execute effective humanitarian assistance to displaced people across Asia.
“As a child of immigrants and as a first generation law student, it was important for me to join a firm that values diverse perspectives and fosters a sense of belonging,” said Koka. “I chose Vedder Price because it is dedicated to making the legal profession a more inclusive space, and because I felt the firm was deeply invested in my learning and career as an attorney.”
Miller will also work with all of the firm’s practice areas. Miller received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh where he made the Dean’s List six times and was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English honor society and Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. Prior to attending the Howard University School of Law, Miller was an AmeriCorps Fellow where he taught and mentored youth in Wilmington, Delaware.
“I wanted to join a firm that would provide me with a rounded introduction into the legal field, and I could also see that Vedder Price possessed an inclusive and welcoming environment,” said Miller. “I look forward to obtaining the necessary skills that will guide me during my time as a Summer Associate and as a future attorney. Being selected for this scholarship is monumental and I look forward to building both professional and mentor relationships.”
“We are very happy to welcome both Anirudh and Gregory to the firm this summer,” said Andrew Torre, Chair of Vedder Price’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “We are looking forward to collaborating with them this summer as they continue to learn and advance in their careers as well.”
