National Native American Heritage Month Conversation
In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, Vedder Price Diversity Committee was honored to host a conversation with Heartland Emmy Award-Winning Filmmaker Charles “Boots” Kennedye. Charles “Boots” Kennedye is an Oklahoma City based filmmaker and member of the Kiowa Tribe. He produced the documentary series State of Sequoyah, which explores the history of the land promised to Native Americans and the founding of a Native State in the early 20th century. Shareholder and Diversity Chair Andrew Torre moderated the discussion focused on Mr. Kennedye’s start as a documentarian and the diversity and long history of Native American people and their land, including the recent landmark Supreme Course decision McGirt v. Oklahoma.
