Ms. Malek is a solutions-oriented attorney with demonstrated experience in intellectual property litigation, as well as IP prosecution, enforcement and portfolio management. She recognizes that intellectual property is a vital company asset and that clients benefit from cross-disciplinary counsel that can represent them in complex cases where multiple types of IP issues overlap.

Ms. Malek works with clients to maximize the value of their intellectual property by maintaining existing IP assets while identifying opportunities for growth. As part of her practice, Ms. Malek manages the global patent and trademark portfolios of clients across all industries and advises clients regarding clearance, preparation, prosecution, maintenance and protection of domestic and foreign patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Ms. Malek also counsels clients on intellectual property transactional issues including licenses and transfers and regularly conducts due diligence investigations related to IP assets for joint ventures, private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate and business transactions.

Ms. Malek represents clients through all phases of litigation in state and federal courts, from pre-suit due diligence through trial and appeal. She has litigated claims involving patents, trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, trade secrets, false advertising, and unfair competition. She also has experience handling ex parte appeals, trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) as well as domain name litigation under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Ms. Malek’s deep intellectual property practice involves representing a diverse array of clients from inventors and startups to large manufacturers and household name brands.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Ms. Malek was an associate at a boutique law firm where she worked closely with clients on litigation and transactional matters involving a wide range of intellectual property law issues and general business disputes.

Ms. Malek is licensed to practice in federal and state courts in Illinois.
