Mr. Whillis’s practice focuses on assisting clients in a variety of domestic and cross-border financial transactions related to the aviation, shipping and maritime industries. His experience includes acting for major financial institutions and export credit agencies in syndicated debt facilities, representing lenders in complex financing arrangements, and assisting owners and lessors with asset sale and purchase transactions. He also advises clients regarding leasing arrangements, debt restructuring transactions and shipping-related disputes.

Prior to joining Vedder Price, Mr. Whillis was a banking and finance associate in the Tokyo office of a large international firm, where he gained particular experience in assisting consortiums of international banks on high-value financings for repurposing vessels for use in the offshore oil and gas industry. He has a working proficiency in Japanese.
