Governor Newsom approved many new employment laws taking effect in 2024. These laws, together with recent court decisions, impose new compliance challenges on employers in California.
What is changing in 2024?
This webinar will provide an overview of many notable changes coming in 2024. Some of the significant new laws we plan to cover include:
- SB 616, Paid sick leave requirements expanded to 5 days/40 hours
- AB 848, Creates new unpaid leave rights for certain “reproductive loss events”
- SB 533, Requires employers to establish workplace violence prevention programs
- SB 497, Presumption of retaliation if disciplinary action taken within 90 days of an employee’s wage complaint
- AB 1076 & SB 699, Expands law prohibiting restrictive covenants to specifically include employment noncompete agreements
- AB 1228 & SB 525, Increases minimum wages for fast food workers and healthcare workers
