Vedder Price to Participate in “L.A. Represents” Pro Bono Legal Initiative
Vedder Price is pleased to announce its participation in “L.A. Represents,” a pro bono initiative aimed at providing free legal services to L.A. residents and businesses facing hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am proud that Vedder is enthusiastically supporting ‘L.A. Represents’ during this unprecedented time for our communities” said Patrick Spangler, Co-Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee. Co-Chair Michelle Olson continued, “We’d also like to thank Shareholder Anthony Pacheco for his efforts in the L.A. community that have allowed us to take part in this incredible initiative.”
“Throughout my career, I’ve made a commitment to supporting the community through the ups and downs of life,” said Mr. Pacheco. “I’m grateful that through the support of our Pro Bono committee, we, as lawyers, can uniquely help Angelenos get through this down period to come out on top.”
The coalition of law firms, bar associations, and legal aid organizations has agreed to enhance their existing pro bono commitments to provide COVID-19-related legal services — including helping vulnerable tenants, domestic violence victims, and low-income Angelenos with employment, consumer debt, and bankruptcy matters.
Additionally, “L.A. Represents” will build a new support system for small businesses devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, small businesses least likely to have access to effective legal services can receive pro bono assistance as they confront new workplace regulations, renegotiate commercial leases, apply for government relief programs, and navigate compliance with emergency health and safety orders.
