Vedder Price is pleased to announce that trial attorney Daniel R. Alonso has joined the firm’s New York office as a Shareholder in the Government Investigations and White Collar Defense Group and Co-Chair of Latin America Investigations and Litigation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dan to Vedder Price, who brings over 30 years of outstanding experience in white-collar defense and complex civil litigation,” said Tony Ashley, Firm Chair of the Litigation practice area. “His addition supports our strategic growth, strengthening our expanding team in New York and nationwide to better serve our clients’ evolving needs.”
Alonso, a former senior federal and New York state prosecutor and an accomplished first-chair trial lawyer, specializes in white collar defense for corporations and individuals, as well as internal investigations, corporate compliance and ethics, and complex civil litigation. A substantial portion of his practice centers on cross-border investigations and compliance in Latin America, including for U.S. multinationals, private equity firms, and boards, as well as for Latin American companies and individuals involved in U.S. matters. In these matters, he works in his native Spanish, and he is also a conversational Portuguese speaker.
“Dan’s addition significantly deepens our bench in New York, and on a national scale as well,” said Junaid Zubairi, Shareholder and Chair of the Government Investigations and White Collar Defense Group. “His strategic and collaborative approach will integrate well with our team overall, and we are happy to bring him on board to the firm.”

He has also served as an independent monitor on multiple occasions, and has been twice appointed by federal judges to sensitive independent roles, including as the Independent Disciplinary Authority for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Alonso previously served as Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. He was also general counsel of the global risk management firm Exiger.
