Three Vedder Price attorneys will be featured speakers at the 2024 Legal Forum, hosted by the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA). Shareholders Edward Gross and Arlene Gelman and Associate Conor Gaughan will be part of several roundtable discussions over the three-day conference, taking place May 5 through May 7, 2024, at The Scottsdale Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Air, Rail, Marine Roundtable –
Associate Conor Gaughan will discuss unique challenges that arise in structuring leases and loans involving aircraft, rail equipment and vessels. He is joined by Eileen Brown of Thompson Coburn LLP and Jason Huff of Smith, Grambell & Russell, LLP.

AI –
Shareholder Eddie Gross will be moderating a discussion covering the use of Artificial Intelligence by equipment finance lawyers as a productivity tool, including the related practicalities, limitations and potential benefits and risks. He is joined by Harmony Oswald of lucy technologies and Michael Babb of Equify Financial LLC.

Advanced UCC –
Eddie will also be participating in a discussion regarding the equipment financing implications of the 2022 amendments to the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and other “advanced” UCC issues. The session will also feature Barbara Goodstein of Mayer Brown LLP, Bradley Nielsen of Kutak Rock LLP and Diona Rogers of Thompson Coburn LLP.
 

Bankruptcy 101 –
Shareholder Arlene Gelman will discuss the impact of the bankruptcy process on equipment lessors along with secured and unsecured lenders. Ms. Gelman is joined by Debra Devassy Babu of Darcy & Devassy PC, Kenneth Peters of Dressler & Peters LLC and Deborah Rubin of Taft Law.

General Session –
Legal Update Part 2 – Shareholder Arlene Gelman will review recent cases and developments, focusing on bankruptcy, creditor litigation, the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and the Uniform Special Deposits Act. Ms. Gelman is accompanied by Robert Cohen of Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP, Benjamin Court of Stinson LLP and Barbara Goodstein of Mayer Brown LLP.

Advanced UCC (Repeat) –
Shareholder Edward Gross and his colleagues host a repeat session of the discussion “Advanced UCC”, originally hosted on May 6, 2024.
