Vedder Price Shareholder Michael A. Chabraja and Associate John K. Burke will participate in the Center for Association Leadership’s (ASEA) Chicago Law: Association Law Symposium on June 2. Designed for association and nonprofit attorneys as well as CEOs and COOs involved in essential association law and governance matters, the Chicago Law: Association Law Symposium is an interactive legal education event that addresses the most pressing issues and trends in the association and nonprofit law industry. Vedder Price Associate, and member of the firm’s Trade & Professional Associations practice group, Caitlin C. Podbielski is a member of ASEA and is on the planning committee for this year’s Chicago Law: Association Law Symposium.
Mr. Chabraja’s session, “Successful Contract Negotiation With the Executive Director = Successful Association,” will discuss how your association can ensure that compensation, severance, benefits and legal restrictions are properly addressed during negotiations and will provide guidance on how to make the best decisions in contract negotiations with an executive director.
Mr. Burke’s session, “What the ®™©℠? Understanding Your Intellectual Property Rights and How to Use Them,” will discuss the various types of intellectual property created by associations, the rights attendant to each under U.S. law and best practices for protecting those rights and will also examine commonly made mistakes in asserting and enforcing intellectual property rights and lessons learned.
