Thomas Hancuch and Patrick Spangler to Speak at ABA’s 2015 Midwinter Meeting of the Employee Benefits Committee
Vedder Price Shareholder Thomas G. Hancuch and Associate Patrick W. Spangler will speak at the upcoming American Bar Association's 2015 Midwinter Meeting of the Employee Benefits Committee, which will take place from February 4–7, 2015 at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California. The Midwinter Meetings are the Labor and Employment Law section's most concentrated source of substantive content. The programs include demonstrations of practical skills and techniques, panel discussions involving experts and judges, and scholarly, insightful papers reviewing recent developments.
Mr. Hancuch will participate in the session on "ACA Litigation and Other Health Benefits Issues." The session will discuss ACA litigation, including the tax subsidy cases, the origination clause cases, the aftermath of the Hobby Lobby decision and whistleblower cases.
Mr. Spangler's session, "Multiemployer Plans Potpourri" will focus on recent and upcoming developments for multiemployer plans. Mr. Spangler will address recent trends in withdrawal liability litigation, including claims in the bankruptcy and mergers as well as acquisition contexts. The session will also touch on the upcoming sunset of the red/yellow/green zone framework contained in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and its impact on multiemployer funds and contributing employers.
