Mr. Demith’s practice focuses on representing and advising employers across a broad range of industries on traditional labor law matters. He has experience in collective bargaining negotiations, contract administration, union organizing campaigns, unfair labor practice charges, processing and arbitrating grievances and a range of administrative matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Illinois Labor Relations Board (ILRB). 

In addition to his traditional labor work, Mr. Demith regularly counsels employers on a full spectrum of day-to-day labor and employment issues, partners with employers to develop legally compliant workplace policies that align with business needs and goals and advises on the labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions. For example, Mr. Demith advises on topics involving the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). 

He also has substantial experience advising employers with employees in Illinois on the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act, the Cook County Paid Leave Ordinance and the Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance.
