Kristine Itliong and Francisca Wolfenson Chimenelli Named 2018 Diversity Scholars
Vedder Price is pleased to announce the commencement of its fourteenth annual diversity scholarship program. Because of the success of the program and quality of candidates, the firm has expanded the program and named two recipients this year.
Kristine Itliong attends the Fordham University School of Law and is working in Vedder Price’s New York office. Ms. Itliong brings a background in management consulting and business, and is the Co-President of Fordham Law Women, an organization that seeks to raise the awareness of issues facing women and society among its members and the law school community. She is assisting the firm’s Global Transportation Finance practice.
Francisca Wolfenson Chimenelli attends the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. She brings to Vedder Price four years of legal operations and paralegal experience with a specialization in immigration law. Born and partially raised in Chile, she is an active member of Loyola’s Latino Law Students Association and its Women’s Law and International Law Societies. She is assisting the firm’s Corporate, Litigation and Labor & Employment practice areas from the firm’s Chicago office.
As Summer Associates, Itliong and Chimenelli receive one-on-one trainings and mentors, are exposed to multiple practices in other offices, and work on active casework. They will also participate in the “Women at Vedder Empowering Success” program or WAVES, which supports the firm’s female attorneys in developing the skills and strategies to be successful in their practices, at the firm and in the community.
The Diversity Scholars program was established in 2005 to further promote and enhance diversity and a culture of inclusion at Vedder Price. The program provides both a monetary scholarship and placement in the firm’s Summer Associate program. Recipients are selected by the firm’s Diversity Committee based on their on-campus involvement, academic excellence and commitment to advancing a diverse workforce.
“Vedder Price is excited to welcome Kristine and Francisca to the firm as this year’s 2018 Diversity Scholars,” said Jeanah Park, Chair of the Vedder Price Diversity Committee. “Vedder is committed to helping talented students and the legal community to grow and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that strengthens the world at large. Kristine and Francisca play a key part in this and we’re confident they’ll bring a unique, 360-degree worldview to our firm that they are already cultivating on their respective campuses.”
