Heather M. Sager, a Shareholder in Vedder Price's San Francisco office and member of the firm's Labor & Employment practice area, will speak at the American Conference Institute's 22nd National Forum on Wage & Hour Claims and Class Actions in Los Angeles. The two-day conference is designed to inform employers and in-house counsel on current and upcoming wage and hour rules and regulations. Topics to be covered at this year's conference include federal and state initiatives, developments in private class action certification, assessing the legal implications of the proposed FLSA minimum wage, health care reform litigation risks and recent litigation trends in regular rate of pay, bonuses, commissions and overtime.

Ms. Sager will co-lead the presentation "Defending and Managing the Latest Off-the-Clock Claims Involving the Continuous Work Day, Use of Smartphones/Mobile Devices Outside of Scheduled Hours, Working Remotely, and Alternative Working Arrangements." The presentation will discuss the latest FLSA and state wage and hour cases and will provide innovative defense strategies for claims involving uncompensated, work-related use of smartphones and other mobile devices by nonexempt employees outside of their working hours.
