Gabrielle M. Buckley Elected Chair of the ABA Section of International Law
Gabrielle M. Buckley, a Shareholder in the firm's Corporate practice area and head of the firm's Business Immigration practice group, has been elected Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of International Law. Her one-year term began on August 13, 2013. Ms. Buckley comes highly qualified for the position, as she has over 25 years of experience counseling companies around the world with regard to all aspects of global workforce issues.
The Section of International Law is the leader in the development of policy in the international arena, the promotion of the rule of law and the education of international law practitioners. It is the only ABA entity that focuses on the full range of international legal issues and is involved in a wide variety of substantive legal activities. The Section's membership of approximately 24,000 spans over 90 countries.
In addition to her new role at the ABA, Ms. Buckley currently serves on the board of directors of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, and has served on the ABA's 13-member Commission on Immigration and its Advisory Committee. She is a former Chair of the Immigration & Naturalization Committee of the ABA’s Section of International Law, and has served in various leadership capacities within the Section. She is also a past Chair of the International Bar Association's Immigration and Nationality Law Committee.
