Vedder Price Shareholders Cathy Gonzales O’Kelly and Maureen A. Miller have received nominations for a Mutual Fund Industry Award for Independent Counsel of the Year.

The Annual Mutual Fund Industry Awards, now in its 18th year, are selected by the editors of Institutional Investor’s Fund Action and Fund Directions, two industry publications for the U.S. mutual fund industry. The awards are given out annually to recognize industry professionals and their accomplishments during the previous year. This year’s award ceremony will be held on April 7, 2011 at the Mandarin Oriental in New York.

O’Kelly and Miller are being honored for their work in advising several boards of the Guggenheim Funds during the Claymore integration to Guggenheim Partners. “They played a vibrant role in working with management to determine what resources would be needed and how they would interact with the funds and the board,” say the editors of Fund Directions.

O’Kelly is also being recognized for serving as independent counsel to the independent board members of the Security Funds during another Guggenheim acquisition of Security Funds’ parent company, Security Benefit.
