Amal Rafiq Selected as President-Elect of South Asian Bar Association Board of Directors
Vedder Price is pleased to announce that associate Amal Rafiq has been elected to the 2025 South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C. (SABA-DC) Board of Directors as President-Elect.
In this role Rafiq will work closely with the President to provide leadership and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring it fulfills its mission and goals. Rafiq will also be responsible for overseeing the board’s public interest efforts and yearly programming, and spearheading efforts to identify new opportunities for fundraising. In the absence of the President, she will have the power of the President. In 2026, Rafiq will serve as the President of the organization. Rafiq currently serves on the SABA-DC board as the Treasurer, and was previously elected to the board of SABA-Philadelphia.
SABA-DC is a voluntary bar association dedicated to the needs, concerns and interests of the South Asian legal community in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Among its key objectives are advancing the development of South Asian lawyers and law students in the surrounding area, providing a forum for professional and social networking, and increasing awareness and dialogue regarding legal issues facing South Asians in the United States.
Rafiq is a member of the firm’s Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits group. She primarily focuses her practice on executive compensation and employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions and ESOP transactions, as well as routine executive compensation matters for companies and executives.
